After stunning audiences and critics alike with his heart-breaking performance in Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal, actor Kathir has landed a pivotal role in Vijay’s next outing with Atlee, currently dubbed Thalapathy 63. The announcement was made via a special poster on Saturday and Kathir is super thriller about the opportunity. There are rumours that he plays Vijay’s brother in the film, but we have to wait as nothing has been made official yet about the actors and their roles. The film’s production house, AGS Entertainment, had tweeted, “We would like to welcome the super talented @am_kathir on-board #Thalapathy63 @Atlee_dir”.

The film had a soft launch in the presence of Vijay, Atlee and the makers of the film, and it is believed that the regular shooting will commence from later this month. It has also been confirmed that the film will hit the screens for Deepavali next year, with Nayanthara signed up as the leading lady. Over the last few weeks, reports have been making the rounds that Vijay will undergo special physical training to play the role of a coach. Some reports claim that he plays the coach of a women’s soccer team and that the makers have finalised 16 women actors. Vijay is said to be closely working with a team of professionals to train for his role. He’s expected to shed some weight to get under the skin of the character. The film has music by AR Rahman.

The makers are yet to reveal the complete cast list. However, if the industry grapevine is anything to go by, well-known comedians Yogi Babu and Vivek have landed key roles in the project. If Yogi Babu is indeed part of the project, it will be his third consecutive film with Vijay after Mersal and Sarkar. According to a statement released by AGS Entertainment at the time of the project announcement, the film will be a pucca mass entertainer and will deal with a genre that will be a first-of-its-kind for Vijay.
