It has been revealed that Mohanlal’s role in the upcoming film Lucifer will be that of an anti-hero. The star had expressed his desire to try out such a role and with Lucifer offering him a scope for it, he seems to have lapped it up. His role in this political thriller will have shades of gray.

Lucifer, being directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, went on the floors a few months ago but very little details have been disclosed to the media about the project. This will be Prithviraj’s debut as a director. The teaser of the film was released recently with Mohanlal heard saying the line, “Father, I can only confess to sins I have committed. How do I confess to sins I am yet to commit?”

Mohanlal plays a politician in the film, and his character in it is named Stephen Nedumballi. The team has completed schedules in various locations in Kerala, but the shooting is still in progress.

Reports are that it is in the final stages and will be wrapped up soon. The team is currently stationed at St Petersburg in Russia where some important portions are being canned. While most of the cast and crew are in Russia, it appears Mohanlal is not a part of this schedule. Manju Warrier plays the female lead in the film.

Besides Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, Lucifer’s star cast includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, and Tovino Thomas in pivotal roles. Those in the supporting roles include Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas and Mala Parvathy.

The technical crew of the film includes Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Stephen Devassy will be in charge of the music composition. Writer and actor Murali Gopy has penned the script for Lucifer.

The film is bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Films. It will make it to the silver screens in April next year.
