Mammooty and Ranjith come together again

Actor Mammootty and director Ranjith are coming together again for a new film that sources say will be a complete commercial venture, to be bankrolled by a leading production house in Mollywood.

Mammootty will be playing the world’s richest Keralite in the as yet untitled film and story will be set around this character. He will be playing the lead role in this untitled film and sharing screen space with him will be some of the top stars from the Malayalam and Tamil film industries.

Besides wielding the megaphone for this project, Ranjith will also be in charge of story, screenplay and dialogues. The prep work to get this film on the floors has begun and the shooting will start once Mammootty is done with his current assignments.

Mammoootty and Ranjith have earlier worked together for quite a few popular films such as Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte KathaPranchiyettan And The SaintKaiyoppu, and Black. Their last outing together was Puthan Panam which failed miserably at the box office. However, the duo has decided to put it aside to make a new project.

Meanwhile we hear the news that the mega star joined the sets of Pathinettam Padi and completed shooting for his portions. While the film will have a set of newbies playing the lead, it has Mammootty in an extended cameo. Reports are that it is a very important role in the film following which the filmmakers decided to cast the mega star. Mammootty is believed to have been impressed with the role and agreed to join on board. His character is named John Abraham Palackal.

The star has also signed a movie with director Joshiy with whom he is associating after a decade. The project will be scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor who wrote the much acclaimed Dileesh Pothan film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.

Mammootty is also joining hands with actor-director Nadirshah for the film I am a Disco Dancer.
