Kabali's North India rights acquired for whopping sum

Written by : TNM

Rajinikanth’s Kabali is now the most awaited movie in Kollywood, with the buzz around it increasing day by day. Since the superstar’s last two films weren’t exactly a rage at the box office, Kabali is one of the most highly anticipated films.

The film's unit is taking up the promotions in a big way.

Recently, Fox Star India acquired the Hindi rights for the North Indian circuit along with the satellite rights of the film’s Hindi language for a whopping figure. Now it is said that Kabali’s Hindi version will be launched in nearly 1000 screens across North India, which is a humongous number for any dubbed film.

According to trade pundits, Kabali is slated for a worldwide release on July 22, 2016, though there is no official confirmation yet.

Meanwhile, according to reports from The Times of India, 'Ice Age: Collision Course' which was slated to release on July 15, first shifted its release to July 22 to avoid a clash with Kabali. But now since Kabali has been pushed to a week later, Ice Age has been moved back to its earlier date of July 15, a week before its US release.

Kabali has done about Rs 200 crore of pre-release business already. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Kabali features Rajinikanth in the titular role of a don. Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Attakathi Dinesh and Kalaiarasan will be seen in important roles.
