Written by : Digital Native

Last seen in space film Tik Tik Tik, actor Jayam Ravi began shooting for his new project with debut director Pradeep Ranganathan on Thursday. Being produced by Isari Ganesh under the banner of Vels Films International, the film will feature Kajal Aggarwal paired with Ravi for the first time. Kajal was apparently approached to play one of the leads in Ravi’s romantic comedy Sakalakala Vallavan, but she couldn’t accept the offer due to other commitments.

The regular shooting for the yet untitled film commenced in Chennai. The film also stars Samyuktha Hegde, Yogi Babu and director KS Ravi Kumar in key roles. Richard M Nathan has been signed to crank the camera.

Jayam Ravi, who is currently awaiting the release of Adangu Maru, will next begin work on the highly anticipated sequel to Thani Oruvan, with his filmmaker brother Mohan Raja. On the third anniversary of the film on August 28, Raja announced that his next film will be Thani Oruvan 2 with his brother. Via a video posted on Twitter, Raja announced that Thani Oruvan 2 will mark yet another reunion with his brother.

Not long ago, Raja had said in a Twitter chat with his fans that Thani Oruvan 2 will be Jayam Ravi’s 25th film. While both Ravi and his brother are currently occupied with their respective projects, the duo is set to team up for the sixth time next year. Interestingly, all their previous collaborations that include films such as Jayam, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi and Santhosh Subramaniam among others have been successful ventures.

Following the phenomenal success of Thani Oruvan, it was remade in Telugu with Ram Charan in the lead role. Arvind Swami, who made a smashing comeback as the antagonist in the original, was roped in to reprise the same role in the remake.

The cast and crew for Thani Oruvan 2 are yet to be finalised; however, news from the industry grapevine suggests that Nayanthara might also be a part of the cast.
