Political-thriller Uriyadi, which released in 2016 and revolves around four happy-go-lucky college students getting embroiled in politics, was one of most talked about films of that year.

Despite not being able to make it big at the box-office, the film earned very rare recognition from audiences and critics alike. The film is now getting a sequel and it is being bankrolled by Suriya under his banner 2D Entertainment.

Apparently, the project went on the floors in Tenkasi. Vijay Kumar, who directed as well played the lead in the first part, will return to his role in the sequel as well.

Talking about the project, Rajsekar Pandian of 2D Entertainment told Times of India: “We look for subjects that are both entertaining and carry a social message. We were having a discussion with Vijay and he mentioned that he had a sequel in mind. The sequel will carry a strong social message, just like the first part.”

While Vijay plays the lead, Kerala-based Vismaya plays the leading lady. Madras Central fame Sudhakar has been roped in to play a crucial role. 96 fame Govind Vasantha has been roped in to compose the music. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be officially announced.

According to source from the film’s camp, the makers are planning to shoot the entire film at one stretch and wrap up by the end of October or early November 2018. The entire film will be shot in and around Kutralam.

Fresh off of the success of Kadai Kutty Singam, 2D Entertainment has pinned high hopes on this project as it doesn’t feature any popular actors or names. Meanwhile, fresh rumours are brewing that Suriya’s next project will be produced under his own banner.
