It’ll be another milestone in his career: Kamal Haasan on Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’

The trailer launch of superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, a sequel to Shankar’s 2010 blockbuster Enthiran, happened on November 3 in a grand manner in Chennai. The event was the cynosure of all eyes with various celebrities in attendance. Among those conveying their wishes to the team and Rajinikanth was actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who said the film will go down as another milestone in the Superstar’s career.

In a special video byte screened during the 2.0 trailer launch, Kamal wished the entire team success. He said: “I only wish the best to Rajini, Akshay Kumar, Shankar, AR Rahman and the Lyca Productions team. This film will be one more milestone in Rajinikanth’s career. I also want to tell Shankar that his hard work is sure to pay off. The amount of technology that has been used in the film will be appreciated.”

Made on a lavish budget of nearly Rs 600 crore, according to Rajinikanth, the film is gearing up for release on November 29 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The trailer of the film was released in the three languages and have all been received very well. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has snapped up the theatrical rights of the film’s Hindi version.

The film marks the southern debut of Akshay Kumar, who will be seen playing the antagonist. Akshay’s look in the film is being highly spoken about after audiences got a glimpse of him a few months ago. Talking about his role at the trailer launch, Akshay said that it’d take him 5-6 hours to get ready to play his character.

“It’d take me 4 hours to put on the makeup and another hour and a half to take it off.” In order to play his role, he said he didn’t have to rehearse much because all he was required to do was follow the instructions of Shankar blindly.

2.0 will mark the return of Rajinikanth as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti. Shankar had revealed that audiences will also see three new avatars of Chitti the Robot. The film, which has music by AR Rahman, also stars Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in key roles.
