If sources within Greenpeace are to be believed, the organization reportedly has seen a massive leap in the number of people donating for its campaigns after the “leaked” IB report made headlines.A Greenpeace source says, "We received around 4,200 new registrations for monthly donors and more than 2,000 new registrations for one time donors. This is the first time ever that we have achieved such a big number in all these years. It is a record for Greenpeace India."Every year, organisations like the Greenpeace see a spike in donations around the World Environment Day on June 2, but the interest generated this year is courtesy IB report."Many of our volunteers who campaign for the organisation told us that people wanted to discuss the IB report. There were queries like,"Why did the IB say that? or "How come the report was leaked?" The IB report generated a buzz about us that has definitely helped us," says the source.The organization has led several campaigns in the country over the years. Recently they came under intense scrutiny after the IB report claimed that Greenpeace along with other NGOs posed a threat to the country's economic security.The IB report had fuelled much debate on foreign funding with the sceptics demanding a blanket ban on foreign funding for NGOs.
