A pregnant woman was pushed out of a moving train in Andhra's Dharmavaram on Tuesday morning, as she was travelling to Bengaluru on the Kondaveedu Express, allegedly by two unidentified miscreants, near Gollpalle village. As the train was moving slow, the woman who was seven-months pregnant survived the fall but the accused also got down from the train and robbed her of gold ornaments worth more than Rs 2 lakh.

The woman, identified as Divya, was reported to be working in Bengaluru and had visited Pidurguralla village in Guntur district with her husband last week. She was travelling with her mother-in-law and the duo boarded the train at Narsaraopet. The police said that the incident happened as she was coming out of the washroom.

Authorities investigating the case also said that she lost consciousness when she fell down. After regaining consciousness, she walked to a nearby field and with the help of locals, was admitted to a hospital in Dharmavaram. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after her husband was informed of the case. The local Railway Police said that they had registered a case and were trying to ascertain the identity of the miscreants.

In March this year, a 21-year-old woman was rescued by alert railway staff close to Bhimavaram after she was found by railway workers, lying unconscious near the railway tracks. She was unconscious and covered in mud and was rushed to the Bhimavaram Government Hospital. On learning of the incident, the police visited the hospital and registered a case.

In September last year, a techie travelling from Chennai to Vijayawada jumped off a moving train, severely injuring herself, to escape a molestation attempt. The incident happened near Singarayakonda of Prakasham district, raising concerns over the safety of women passengers in trains at the time.
