Pawan Kalyan shifts base, to enroll as voter in Andhra

Written by : IANS

In a significant move, popular Telugu actor and Jana Sena President Pawan Kalyan on Monday decided to register himself as a voter in Eluru town of Andhra Pradesh.

He took the decision when a delegation of party leaders from West Godavari district called on him here and made a request to this effect.

Pawan, who is a voter in Hyderabad, asked his aides to take necessary steps to transfer his name to the voters' list in Eluru town in West Godavari district.

This is being seen as a key development in the wake of changing political equation in Andhra Pradesh.

Unhappy over the denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh, Pawan at his recent public meetings in Tirupati and Rajahmundry targeted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The actor had floated Jana Sena on the eve of 2014 elections but campaigned for the BJP-TDP alliance.

Pawan, younger brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, has already dropped hints that his party will contest the next elections.

He is scheduled to address his third public meeting at Anantapur on November 10.
