Hunt for 'needle attacker' intensifies in West Godavari as police tightens security

The hunt for the `needle attacker' continued in Andhra Pradesh with more police men deployed on Tuesday to comb villages in the state's West Godavari district.

According to the Times of India, police teams searched Kommera, Eeduru, Chalendracheruvu, Lakshminarayanapuram and other villages on a tip off. 

The police have estimated that the individual is in the age group of 20-25 years and drives a 'Bajaj Pulsar' bike.

The police also reportedly took photographs of people in the age group and sent them to the victims of the attacks through WhatsApp. 

“With the particulars of the suspect, a detailed enumeration is being done for all the mandals and villages.We are monitoring sales of needles and purchases in the district," District Superintendent of Poilce Bhaskar Bhushan told TOI, while adding that they were examining CCTV footage.

Around 17 women have been his victims so far, including six school and college girls.
