Five dead in Ongole district of AP as truck hits tractor

Five persons of a family died and 15 were injured in a road accident in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh today, police said.

Two of the victims died on the spot, said V Srinivasa Rao, sub-divisional police officer, Kandukur.

The accident took place near ABR College in Kanigiri, when a group of 20 people from Vengalayapalem of P C Palli were returning after attending a wedding in the town. A truck hit the tractor-trolley by which they were travelling.

The injured were shifted to hospitals at Kanigiri and Ongole.

The deceased, who were cousins, were identified as D Narasimhalu (30), D Naresh (13), D Raghavamma (55), Praveen (15), D Mahesh (16).

Kanigiri police are conducting further probe.
