Congress to file police complaints against TDP-BJP combine over Andhra special status

Written by : TNM Staff

The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress on Sunday said that it would file police complaints across the state from Monday against the ruling BJP-TDP government for "deceiving" people with false promises.

"We will give evidences like election manifestos, the assurances given by Chandrababu Naiduji, Modiji in a public meeting at Tirupati and how they are diluting and making a U-turn on their promises," AP Congress president N Raghuveera Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.

The Congress also hit out on the state government for failing to secure a 'special status' as promised during the 2014 elections after the bifurcation of the state.

The party also claimed that the police complaints would be filed under IPC section 418, which deals with 'cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest the offender is bound to protect.'

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had said last month that the TDP would continue its struggle despite the central government saying that there was no question of according special status to any new state in the present circumstances.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has announced that he will go on indefinite hunger strike from September 15, if the central government fails to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh by then.

Congress would also submit the dying declarations of those who allegedly committed suicide over the Centre not granting special status to AP, the report adds.
