Suffering alleged rape at the hands of her father for nearly two years, a 16-year-old girl finally spoke up on Sunday, which eventually led to the man’s arrest.

The accused was thrashed by locals, before being arrested by the police, reported The New Indian Express.

The incident came to light on Sunday in Ranasthalam mandal.

The girl complained to the village elders about the sexual harassment by her father and also alleged that her mother kept quiet despite knowing about it.

Enraged villagers then beat the man up and handed him him over to the police.

The accused was identified as 43-year-old Mailapalli Apanna.

“The accused has been sexually harassing the victim for two years. The victim’s mother knew about it but never opposed her husband,” said Ranasthalam Sub Inspector, V Satyanarayana.

A case under Section 376 of IPC (rape) and Section 5, 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been booked against the accused, the report added.
