The protest was triggered when lorries carrying food from other districts were looted. The angry fishermen did not want charity, and demanded that power and waters supply be returned, said the report. Since 12,000 electric poles have fallen and 7,500 transformers damaged, it could take another 2 days to bring back power to some areas in the city and at least a week in the districts. Even as water supply was yet to return, people had to depend on water sachets. Even petrol was rationed and sold to users at one litre per user, said the report.
