Two days after the hunt for the two suspects in the dog thrown from the Chennai rooftop case began, Madha Medical College students Gautam Sudarshan and Ashish Paul have been arrested. Judicial custody has been granted till 20th July for the suspects. A video of a man throwing a dog from a terrace surfaced on social media days ago and was swiftly met with a lot of furore and wrath. After police received a tip off, the hunt began for the absconding suspects.

"They will be produced at the Sriperumbadur court shortly. We had given them time to surrender, and they did at 12 am," said Magesh, the Ambattur DC said to The News Minute.

The dog was miraculously found alive on Tuesday night. She was taken to the Vepery Veterinary hospital this morning is currently being treated for minor fractures.

Here's the latest on the dog's health, reproduced from activist Shravan Krishnan's post:

"She has sustained fractures in 2 places: her right hind leg and her spine. Since the fractures have quite clearly happened around 2 weeks ago (the bones have already fused to a considerable extent), there is no doubt that this is the same girl as was seen in the video. She is still in a state of considerable shock and is not being difficult to treat, and recovery is expected to take 4-6 weeks as she is still quite young; in fact, not more than 5 months old."

"We are happy to announce that the wonderful vets at Vepery have completed their preliminary examination of Bhadra (the dog). She has sustained fractures in 2 places: her right hind leg and her spine. Since the fractures have quite clearly happened around 2 weeks ago (the bones have already fused to a considerable extent), there is no doubt that this is the same girl as was seen in the video. She is still in a state of considerable shock and is not being difficult to treat, and recovery is expected to take 4-6 weeks as she is still quite young; in fact, not more than 5 months old. She will continue to be treated by the veterinarians at TANUVAS, who have also confirmed that she is definitely the same dog as was seen in the video as her injuries are consistent with such a fall."

The video went viral on Monday and shows the dog shaking as the man poses for the camera and drops the dog down from the terrace. The video ends with the sound of the dog crying in pain.

While Gautam went home to Chennai, the other returned to his village, police claimed.

"This issue had surfaced two weeks ago when the video was uploaded. However, when students of the college recognized Gautam and tried to reveal his identity, they were threatened by him," said Shravan Krishnan, one of the activists who accompanied the police.
