Actor Vishal's production house in Chennai inspected by tax officers

The inspection started after 2 pm at the premises of the Vadapalani office of the production house.

A team of tax conducted a routine inspection at the office of Vishal Film Factory, the production house owned by actor and President of Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council Vishal.

Initially, media reported that GST raids were conducted at Vishal's production house office. However, the GSTI denied that there were any raids. In a press note, the Director General of the GST Intelligence, Chennai Zonal Unit, said, "Certain news channels are circulating the news that the officers of DGGSTI Chennai Zonal Unit have searched the premises of Shri Vishal, who is the president of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers' Council. It is to clarify that the officers of DGGSTI have not conducted any such search operations and the news which is being circulated is factually incorrect and false."

The production house however later told media that four officers of tax department visited the office on Monday afternoon, for a routine inspection.

The inspection started after 2 pm at the premises of the Vadapalani office of the production house.

Vishal is the Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam and the President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council. Vishal Film Factory, set up in 2013, has produced six films including Kathakali, Naan Sigappu Manithan and Aambala, all movies in which Vishal himself was the lead actor.

The actor was recently in the news for two reasons: Firstly, he announced a reward for tracking down the admins of Tamil Rockers - a website that uploads pirated copies of newly released Tamil films. Most recently, Vishal also called out Tamil Nadu BJP leader H Raja for saying that he watched parts of Vijay starrer Mersal, online.
