The News Minute| May 22, 2014| 1.00 pm ISTThe BBC called him ‘Prime Minister of India for half an hour.’ On May 20th, as the Prime Minister’s office and BJP were locked in a battle over who will own @PMOIndia Twitter handle, a nineteen year old boy from Lucknow Qaiser Ali owned the user name for half hour.He wrote this blog for The News Minute.I joined Twitter in 2011 and was using the Twitter username @Iamqaiserali. I started using my account actively when I launched my social network (Picxter.com ) On May 20th, I just happened to change my mind and wanted to shorten the username of my twitter handle. Since elections were just over I entered the name PMOINDIA. To my surprise, I was told that the name was available and I just saved it for myself. I did not know about the controversy then and I think it was just co-incidence that I looked for the handle at that time. I was also shocked when i got the username, but at same time very honored to have the respected ex - Pm's twitter user name.Suddenly after half an hour my previous username was back on my twitter handle automatically and the pmoindia username was taken away. I don't know who took the username away. Many people have asked me if I chose the name intentionally, but I did not.In that half hour I got a few tweets from people who were addressing it to PMO India. Then as more people started asking questions I started feeling nervous and very scared just like any other 19 year old kid. In a moment of panic, I even sent a tweet from my twitter account apologizing for my behavior to the respected ex-prime minster of India Dr . Manmohan Singh and also to Mr . Pankaj Pachauri. My parents were unhappy over my behavior, but my friends happy about it and they are just sharing articles about the PMO handle incident all around on social mediaI am still a bit confused why Twitter gave me the username. For one moment I even thought I would be jailed for it. I am scared and so are my parents. I would also like to apologize to the people of India for taking the username Pmoindia .
