A POCSO case in Chennai has raised serious questions about the investigation of sexual assault allegations involving a minor and the police's approach to protect the accused.

The case took a dramatic turn after a Special POCSO Court rejected the police’s attempt to close the investigation and ordered further probe. 

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of granite businessman R Veeramani and two associates, Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan. Police have alleged that several minor girls were brought to a house in Teynampet and that the couple helped facilitate the alleged offences.
