Parandur Airport ரத்து: முதலீடுகளுக்கு ஆபத்தா? | CM Vijay | TN Assembly | Shabbir Ahmed | TNM Tamil

The Tamil Nadu government’s decision to drop the proposed greenfield airport at Parandur has opened up a larger debate on the state’s development priorities. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 20,000 crore and planned across thousands of acres, had faced sustained opposition from farmers and residents over land acquisition and its impact on agricultural and water resources.

The TVK's decision has drawn sharp criticism from the DMK and BJP, arguing that scrapping a major infrastructure project could hurt Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth, employment and ability to attract investments.

So, does Tamil Nadu really need a new international airport? What does the data on passenger traffic and existing airport capacity tell us? And is the claim that scrapping Parandur will cost Tamil Nadu investments backed by evidence?

In this week’s episode of Yen Endra Kelvi, Shabbir Ahmed examines the Parandur airport debate, explains the stats around the existing airport and on how Tamil Nadu’s growth future would look like.
