‘Need safe home’ 78 families protest in Ernakulam

The Mundamveli GCDA-LIFE Mission apartment complex rehabilitated 78 low-income families from the P and T Colony in 2024. They were moved to the newly built apartment following repeated flooding in P and T Colony from the Perandoor Canal. But the new homes come with multiple issues, prompting the residents to protest for more than two months. On the 67th day of their protest, Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan declared that the housing complex will be demolished and the residents will be rehabilitated. He also added that detailed decisions regarding the demolition and rehab will be made later.
