In a tragic incident, two young girls died of suffocation after getting trapped inside a locked car in Damaragidda village under the Chevella police station limits on Monday, April 14, afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Tanmaya Shree (5) and Abhinaya Shree (4), cousins and daughters of two sisters who had come with their families to visit their grandparents’ home.
According to the police, the families were in the village to attend a matrimonial meeting arranged for the children’s maternal uncle. While the adults were inside the house busy with the preparations, the two girls were playing outside. Around 1.30 pm, the children reportedly entered an unlocked car parked in front of the house. The doors reportedly got locked after they got inside and the children were unable to open them.
Almost 40 minutes later, family members realised the children were missing and began a search. After checking the premises, the children were found unconscious inside the car. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. The preliminary cause of death has been identified as suffocation.
No complaint has been filed so far.
