Several Telangana residents are among those affected by the devastating floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, prompting the Telangana government to set up a dedicated helpline and coordination centre in New Delhi to assist people stranded in Nepal.
The facility at Telangana Bhavan will coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and other authorities to trace missing persons, support rescue efforts and provide assistance to Telangana residents affected by the floods.
Families who have lost contact with relatives, pilgrims or tourists from Telangana currently in Nepal have been asked to contact the helpline and provide as much information as possible. Officials have sought details including the person’s name, passport number, mobile phone number, last known or current location in Nepal, travel or tour operator details and contact information of family members.

At least 469 people have died in Nepal and hundreds remain missing, more than 48 hours after flash floods devastated the Himalayan border region on August 26.
The situation along the Nepal-Tibet border remains critical, with Nepal and China warning of further flooding after two lakes formed on either side of the Himalayan border, raising concerns that they could breach their banks.
The flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district have claimed 389 lives, while 910 people remained missing as of Thursday. Three deaths have also been reported from Tibet.
The Ministry of External Affairs said 288 Indians remained missing, while nearly 200 others were stranded on the Chinese side. India is coordinating with Nepal and China on rescue operations. So far, 21 Indians from Tamil Nadu have been rescued.
The Telangana government said cases received through its helpline would be taken up on priority and assistance would be coordinated with the concerned authorities.
