Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president K Kavitha on Thursday, August 6, convened the Social Justice Telangana Sankalp Sabha at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad pushing for enhanced participation of BCs, SCs and STs in decision making.
Kavitha had floated the Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) earlier this year after parting ways with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The Election Commission later granted official recognition to the party under the name Telangana Rakshana Sena.
Addressing the meeting, Kavitha stressed the need to enhance the participation of Backward Classes (BCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), minorities and other underrepresented communities in governance and decision-making.
She said her party would march to Delhi if the BJP and Congress did not pass a bill providing 50% reservation for BCs in legislative bodies by the next Budget session of Parliament. She also said the 42 per cent reservation for BCs in education, employment and local bodies promised by the Congress was not enough. Kavitha asked members of her Telangana Rakshana Sena to spend the next five months reaching every village, mandal and district and holding similar meetings before the party launches a ‘Chalo Delhi’ programme.
Party leaders said the organisation is actively working to strengthen representation of marginalised communities within its own structure by appointing office-bearers and constituency-level coordinators from BC, SC and ST backgrounds, reflecting the party's stated commitment to inclusive leadership.
