The Telangana High Court on Monday, July 14, directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take action on a regularisation plea filed by Tollywood actor and former Union minister K Chiranjeevi regarding structural changes made to his residence located at Jubilee Hills’ Road No 25.
In a petition filed by Chiranjeevi, the actor sought regularisation of additions made to his home but the civic body hadn’t responded to his application since 2016. Chiranjeevi’s counsel told the court that the actor had received permission in 2002 to construct a G+2 residential building and subsequently in 2016 he carried out certain renovations.
The actor had submitted an application under the building regularisation scheme in January 2016 but the GHMC remained unresponsive. The GHMC did however, allow the actor to construct a retaining wall in 2017.
In June 2025, the actor again approached the GHMC to inspect and regularise the structure as per provisions of the GHMC Act but the application has been pending. The GHMC told the court that the actor’s application would be processed in due time.
Noting the delay in responding to Chiranjeevi, Justice B Vijaysen Reddy directed the GHMC Commissioner to examine the application, seek an explanation from Chiranjeevi and pass orders in accordance with the law.
