The Telangana government has allotted 10 acres in the Meerkhanpet area of Bharat Future City for a data centre under the State Bank of India (SBI) banner.
This is not the first data centre project proposed by the Telangana government. Amazon Web Services (AWS) had earlier announced its data centre investment, followed by projects from TCS HyperVault and CtrlS.
Speaking at the ‘Praja Palana Dinotsavam’ celebration organised by the state government on Thursday, September 17, CM Revanth said the Future City would feature specialised zones such as the Young India Skills University, a Life Sciences Hub, an EV Park, a Health City and an Education City.
Among CM Revanth’s pitches, an AI city is a major part of his plans for the Future City, an area encompassing Muccharla, Meerkhanpet and Kandukur regions in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana.
Amid the data centre push, AWS had earlier announced a Rs 60,000-crore investment in a data centre in Telangana under a framework agreement signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit in December 2025. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the AWS project on July 15 on 202 acres allotted by the government in Bharat Future City.
Meanwhile, TCS subsidiary HyperVault signed an agreement with the state government on September 5 to establish a 1 GW AI data centre campus at Bharat Future City, with an investment of Rs 70,000 crore.
Fortune Hospitality has also announced plans to develop a hyperscale AI data centre park spread across around 170 acres in Kandukur mandal, also within the Future City region. CtrlS, meanwhile, is pursuing a 2 GW AI data centre project in the area.
The SBI project and Fortune Hospitality’s proposal, which involves an initial investment of Rs 60,000 crore, are the latest additions to Telangana’s growing pipeline of large-scale data centre investments.
