Telangana: Cold wave alert in 13 districts after temp drops below 10 degree celsius

As severe cold wave conditions prevail over Telangana, an orange alert has been issued to 13 districts, after temperatures dropped below 10 degree Celsius on Sunday, December 15. 

According to a press release from  the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumuram Bheem, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Medak, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Peddapalli districts have been issued an orange alert. 

TSDPS also says that Adilabad saw the lowest temperature of these 13 districts at 6.3° C followed by Nirmal with 6.6° C on December 15. This was lower than last year’s temperatures on this date for both districts which was 10.3° C and 12.1° C. Kumuram Bheem, which dropped below 10° C in 2023 as well, saw a temperature of 6.7° C on December 15. In Kamareddy and Nizamabad temperatures fell to 7.6° C and 7.7° C, respectively. 

This is the second day of temperatures dropping below 10° C in parts of the state. On December 14, the lowest temperature was 6.6° C in Adilabad, followed by 6.7° C in Sirpur in Kumuram Bheem and 9.3° C in Pebi in Nirmal. Kamareddy and Sangareddy districts saw temperatures of 9.4° C and 9.8° C, respectively. 

Minimum temperature in Hyderabad limits was 13.3° C on December 14 and 13.2° C on December 15, TSDPS also said.
