The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is set to launch a week-long statewide campaign from September 2 to highlight what it describes as the failures of the Congress government in Telangana as it completes 1,000 days in office.
During a teleconference on Sunday, August 23, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) alleged that the Congress had failed to deliver on the promises it made before coming to power. He said the party had announced 420 promises, 13 declarations and six guarantees, with an assurance that they would be implemented within 100 days.
According to KTR, the government had not fully implemented even one of these commitments despite completing 1,000 days in office. He urged party leaders to focus not only on the unfulfilled promises but also on issues that people were currently facing.
The BRS plans to hold a series of programmes during the seven-day campaign, with leaders expected to interact directly with women, farmers, youth, students, Dalits, backward classes, tribals and other communities.
KTR specifically asked party leaders to raise the issue of pending fee reimbursement dues, which the BRS claims have crossed Rs 12,000 crore. He said the issue should be taken up with students and parents at colleges across Telangana.
He also referred to earlier BRS programmes, including the meeting at Saroornagar and the Yuva Sangrama Sadassu, through which the party had raised concerns over issues affecting young people.
The campaign is expected to combine public meetings and constituency-level programmes aimed at documenting what the BRS considers the Congress government’s shortcomings and presenting them before the people.
