The Telangana government has decided to present all facts pertaining to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project to the judicial commission headed by retired judge Justice PC Ghose before June 30.
In a meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday, June 23, the Cabinet discussed the communication received from the commission about the Kaleshwaram project. The meeting delved into the probe which revolved primarily around how the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)-led government gave their approval for the project.
The commission had also looked at the report submitted by the Cabinet sub-committee in which incumbent agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and BJP MP Eatala Rajender were members.
The Cabinet discussed the issue posed by the Polavaram-Banakacherla project, a river linking project proposed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu which Telangana argues would adversely impact its share of water. Speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that Telangana government is not ready to forego “even a drop of water” from its share of Godavari river water and that it would take measures to protect the state’s interests.
The Cabinet also approved the sports policy for the state and decided to install statues of Telangana Talli, modelled on the lines of the one set up in the State Secretariat, at all district collectorates by November 9. Additionally, it approved the regional ring road between Choutuppal and Sangareddy spanning 201 km.
