A Hyderabad man has been booked for allegedly killing five stray puppies in the parking area of his apartment complex on April 14. CCTV footage of the man, identified as Ashish, brutally flinging the puppies to the ground and stomping on them with his feet had gone viral on social media.

Ashish, a businessman and resident of the Indis VB City gated community in Bolarum, was seen confessing on camera. “I killed five puppies — four of them with a rock and one by flinging against a wall,” he said.

When asked if he had a motive and if the puppies had harmed him, he said they hadn’t.

Incidentally, Ashish himself has a pet dog, a golden retriever, which was seen accompanying him when he was killing the puppies, according to The Hindu. A resident of the gated community told Deccan Chronicle that hish and his wife used to take good care of their pet dog.

Another resident said that Ashish confessed to killing the puppies because he “hated strays”. He also admitted to having hurt stray dogs in the past. When asked why, he said, “Sometimes they bark and attack.”

The horrific incident came to light when residents discovered the dead puppies in the parking space on the morning of April 14. CCTV visuals revealed that Ashish had killed them around 2 am. Alwal police have reportedly registered a case and investigation is underway.
