An Armed Reserve head constable of Andhra Pradesh police who carried his loaded gun on a crowded Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus fired it inside the bus on Thursday. The incident took place following an argument with a fellow passenger, and the bullet hit the roof of the bus.

Police took V Srinivas into custody late on Thursday night and confiscated his 9mm service which he used to fire. Srinivas was working with the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) of the Andhra Pradesh police, and was posted as a security personnel at NTR Bhavan in Banjara Hills.

No passengers were harmed by the gunfire. The bullet pierced through the roof of the bus and created a hole. The incident took place when the bus was at Nagarjuna Circle, next to Himalaya bookstore, near Panjagutta Police Station. Bus route 47 plies from the Cantonment depot to Film Nagar.

Police traced and nabbed the police officer after reviewing CCTV footage from nearby shops.

After the RTC reported the incident to the Panjagutta Police Station, the city Task Force began searching for the gunman.

Soon after the shooting, before Srinivas was nabbed, Cantonment Depot Manager with the TSRTC, Krishnamoorthy said, “The shooter quickly left the scene before the conductor or the driver could do anything. Both of them say they did not see the man who fired the gun.”

Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur was informed by the Hyderabad police about the incident, who asked the ADG to look into the matter, reported Times of India.
