Normal life has been severely affected in Hyderabad and parts of Telangana as the sweltering heat has forced people to stay indoors. On Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Hyderabad sizzled at 43.3 degrees. Adilabad district saw the highest temperature in the state, as mercury hit 46.3 degree Celsius, while other parts of the state like Nizamabad and Nalgonda saw an average maximum temperature of 45.9 and 45.5 degree Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, Hanmakonda also saw the temperature shoot up to 45 degrees, a deviation of 3.3 degrees from normal, while Khamamm and Medak witnessed a maximum temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) said that Endapally Rajarampalli and Kolvai witnessed the temperature shoot up to 47.4 degree Celsius for a brief period while Jammikunta in Karimnagar also saw the temperature cross 47 degrees briefly. Other parts of Mancherial and Jayashankar Bhupalapally district saw the temperature hover around 46 degree Celsius.

The TSDPS also said that Medchal-Malkajgiri district, which includes large parts of Secunderabad, witnessed a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees while Rangareddy district, which includes some parts of Hyderabad, saw the temperature shoot up to 44.7 degrees.

With hot winds blowing across the state, the streets in the city are wearing a deserted look, especially in the afternoons.  Authorities have also issued several warnings, asking people to protect themselves especially in the afternoons.

The IMD also said that parts of Hyderabad may witness thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30 to 40 km/hr.

“These activities will be in the wake of a semi-permanent trough which is extending from Vidarbha till the Comorin area. During day, the temperatures will be high, and this heat would act as a trigger and breakdown in the form of thundershowers," Weather forceasting agency Skymet Weather reported.
