In yet another tragic accident, a four-year-old boy lost his life after getting stuck in the gate of an elevator at Hyderabad’s Muktaba Apartments under the jurisdiction of Asif Nagar Police Station on the night of Wednesday, March 12.
The child, identified as Narender, was the son of the apartment’s watchman. According to reports, Narender was playing near the lift when he got caught in its collapsible doors as it began to ascend. He was later found unconscious inside the lift. Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
This incident comes just weeks after another similar tragedy in Hyderabad. On February 22, a six-year-old boy died after getting trapped between an elevator and a concrete slab at an apartment in the Shanti Nagar locality of Masab Tank. Though he was rescued and taken to Niloufer Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The two recent deaths have raised concerns about elevator safety in residential buildings in Hyderabad. Authorities have yet to announce any measures to address these recurring accidents.
