Agility and presence of mind of two home guards from Hyderabad saved the life of a man who suffered a cardiac arrest and fell from his scooter on Wednesday.
On Wednesday around 12.30 pm, a man coming from Dhoolpet, going towards Tadbund fell from his scooter and collapsed at Puranapul. Two Home Guards – Chandan Singh and Inaitullah Khan Qadri, deputed as traffic constables at Puranapul – immediately rushed to him and saved him by giving CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) without any panic.
The video of the same went viral, earning the appreciation of netizens including Minister of Information and Technology KT Rama Rao.
Speaking to TNM, Chandan Singh said, “Never in my life have I run so fast. I didn’t worry about the oncoming vehicles, I ran towards him immediately to attend to him. I knew his condition was serious… he didn’t even move.”
“He lay unconscious without moving his limbs. I immediately checked his pulse and there was no heartbeat. Immediately, another motorist came to my help, and I gave him the CPR which was part of our training course in TTI (traffic training institute),” Chandan explained.
“I gave the CPR for almost a minute, until he finally breathed. I was extremely exhausted with the procedure. But I was so happy that I could bring him back to life,” Chandan added.
Chandan said that his colleague, Inaitullah, quickly managed the traffic and made arrangement for the ambulance in the meantime.
Chandan Singh and Inaitullah Khan are both Home Guards working in the Bahadurpura traffic police station.
Inaithullah said, “We were just the means. It was god’s will that saved him. We wanted to give up… but there was a bleak ray of hope that he will come to life if we continued with the procedure.”
“I am happy that the training we underwent saved a life. I am elated by the overwhelming response,” he added.
