The Cyberabad police on Tuesday, September 1, arrested Sandeep, son of prominent art director Anand Sai, in connection with a hit-and-run case under the Raidurgam police limits.
Anand Sai is reportedly a close associate of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. He is also known for designing the Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and is a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board.
According to reports, Sandeep allegedly ran over a man identified as Nandulal near the main road connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Khajaguda before fleeing the spot.
As Nandulal was being rescued by a student, identified as Zaid Shah Qadri, another speeding car allegedly hit him, leaving him seriously injured. Nandulal later died.
Police subsequently traced Sandeep using CCTV footage and identified the vehicles involved in the accident.
“Sandeep has been detained for questioning; we cannot reveal details of the accident right now,” a police officer was quoted as saying by Siasat.
The arrest comes days after another high-profile road accident in Hyderabad involving the son of a Jana Sena Party leader.
On August 16, 26-year-old Bharati Mukhi, an employee at Inorbit Mall, was killed after being hit by an Aston Martin near the mall. Police identified the driver as 21-year-old Lingamaneni Sanjush, son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP and Jana Sena leader Lingamaneni Ramesh.
