Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Manne Krishank was arrested by the Hyderabad Cyber Crimes police on Tuesday, October 6, over allegations he made against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s daughter, Naimisha Reddy, regarding the ownership of pharmaceutical companies.
Krishank was booked under Sections 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief) and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint by Congress leader Mettu Sai Kumar. The complaint alleged that Krishank had made false and defamatory statements about Naimisha’s alleged links to certain properties and pharmaceutical companies.
The arrest comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS over the business interests and assets of Revanth Reddy’s family.
Three days before his arrest, on October 3, Krishank had held a press conference at the BRS headquarters in Hyderabad and demanded an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the alleged business interests, assets, investments and financial transactions of Revanth Reddy and his family members.
Krishank alleged that companies including Maxbien Pharma, Medicover Hospitals, Sahrudaya Healthcare and Geetha Automotive had links with members of the Chief Minister’s family. He questioned their ownership structures, shareholdings, beneficial ownership and financial transactions, and called for an independent investigation.
He also alleged that the family’s assets and business interests had grown substantially in recent years and claimed they were worth more than Rs 50,000 crore. Krishank further alleged that Rs 13,000 crore in unaccounted money had been converted into legitimate funds through transactions involving Medicover.
Krishank has previously raised questions about Maxbien Pharma. Three days ago, he alleged that Naimisha’s husband, Annam Sarath, her father-in-law, Satyanarayana Reddy Golugiri, and Dumpa Sirisha were directors of the company. He alleged that the company had benefited from government favours and made substantial profits.
The BRS leader has also questioned alleged business links involving Medicover Hospitals and other companies. He called for scrutiny of their ownership and financial structures and said that the party would submit documents and company records to investigating agencies.
