At least 30 people were injured on the Srisailam highway on the night of Saturday, May 3, after a private minibus collided with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus. The accident took place near the Thummaluru gate in Rangareddy district.

Following the incident, the Maheshwaram police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by Korra Bheemlal, the 36-year-old driver of the TGSRTC bus. In his complaint, Bheemlal said he was on his regular route between Kalwakurthy and Hyderabad when the accident happened. “I was travelling with 50 passengers when, around 8.20 pm, a minibus operated by Balaji Travels collided with our bus near Chai Cheka Hotel at Thummaluru gate. The minibus was coming from the opposite direction and was being driven in a rash and negligent manner,” he said in the complaint.

Bheemlal reported injuries to his chest and said that 25-30 passengers also sustained injuries, including fractures, severe bleeding, and minor wounds.

“Two passengers sustained serious injuries. There was no loss of life,” Maheshwaram police inspector Venkateshwarlu told TNM.

Residents in the area helped shift the injured to Aware Madhavanji Hospital in Mohabathnagar for treatment.

Based on Bheemlal’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against the minibus driver under Section 125(b) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

No arrests have been made yet, and further investigation is underway.
