K Praveen Kumar from Pudukottai district who filed a petition said since 1870 four cricketers had died from being hit by a cricket ball, reported NDTV. He also said that using bouncers was just one of the techniques that bowlers used to outwit batsmen. The death of Philips Hughes, a cricketer last week has re-initiated the debate on injuries from the game. He has called for a prevention of the Indian cricket team from playing the matches unless total protection was given, said the report. The petition will be heard by a bench next week.
