Subhash Padil, the main accused in the 2012 Homestay attack case, was attacked in the court premises in Mangaluru before the hearing on Saturday morning.

The attacker was identified as Japan Manga alias Raju, who attempted to murder Padil with a knife.

In return, supporters of Subhash, who is reportedly the leader of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, attacked Raju with stones and sticks.

The police personnel present on the spot intervened and Raju was taken into custody.

On July 28, 2012, activists belonging to the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, a group attached to the Sangh Parivar, allegedly attacked a birthday party at an unlicensed homestay in Mangalore, Karnataka.
