Last week, actor Salman Khan was at the receiving the wrath of social media when he tweeted that instead of Yakub Memon, his brother and the kingpin of the ’93 Mumbai blasts Tiger Memon should be hanged. While Salman isn’t the best person to be giving moral advice to anyone – the essence of what he said was right. If at all anyone should be hanged for any crime, and if there is one person who had to be hanged for the deadly blasts, it would be Ibrahim Mushtaq Abdul Razak Nadim Memon, known popularly as Tiger Memon. There is no official version of where Tiger Memon lives now, but over the years, several source-based or speculative media reports have tried to place him.In 2006, DNA reported that Tiger, and his younger brother Ayub Memon, were living a life of luxury and comfort in the urban jungles of Dubai. Quoting a DSP of the Central Bureau of Investigation, the newspaper reported that Tiger was a ‘respectable businessman’ in Dubai and that their movements were being tracked by the CBI. The CBI said that the brothers owned a construction business in Dubai in partnership with Anees Ibrahim, brother of underworld don and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, and also that they owned some shops in the city. Having been given Pakistani identities by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI, they were shuttling between Karachi and Dubai. DNA reported that Tiger had to leave his base in Karachi in 2003 after deadly bomb blasts in his building. In 2010, based on the interrogation of a captured member of the D-company, the Hindustan Times reported that Tiger was in Karachi. The captured fugitive, Rashid Khan, reportedly revealed that Tiger was now working for ISI and regularly visited Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir to provide training to terrorists.  Khan claimed to have met Memon in Dawood’s residence in Karachi.Intelligence agencies continue to maintain that Tiger is in Karachi today and is under the protection of the ISI.In 2013, Indian Express ran a source-based report stating that Tiger was in Karachi and busy running a real estate business in Pakistan and terror training camps in PoK. The source is also quoted to have said that Tiger owned several malls in Karachi.Tiger is supposed to have warned his brother, Yakub, against returning to India in 1997. He is reported to have told Yakub not to get back to India as he will not get a fair trial in the country's judicial system. Mid-Day quotes Yakub’s wife, Rahin, in stating that Tiger had asked Yakub ‘not to act like Gandhi’.
