Sohrabuddin and his wife were killed a few days later. Tulsiram, the sole witness to their abduction, was shot dead a year later. The police say that he tried to escape from custody. At first, the state admitted that the deaths were fake encounters, alleging that both Sohrabuddin and Tulsiram were terrorists conspiring to assassinate political leaders.
