The News Minute | January 31, 2015 | 6.00 PM ISTThe leaders of the BJP on Saturday went to the Election Commission to make a complaint against AAP politician and poet Dr. Kumar Vishwas for his “sexist” comments during a rally.Vishwas, during a rally on Thursday, had said that after a lot of research the BJP had found two mistakes on Kejriwal’s part. One, he ran away in 49 days and other that he coughs a lot. He then asked what problem the BJP had if Kejriwal coughed because they were not going to be in his bedroom. He then went on to speak about how Kiran Bedi changed her stand from the days of the Anna movement to now. The BJP says the “bedroom” comment was sexist in nature, alluded to their chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi and on Saturday filed a complaint against Kumar Vishwas. Will file an FIR against AAP for making derogatory remarks agnst Kiran Bedi: Shahnawaz Hussain— ANI (@ANI_news) January 31, 2015A team of high profile figures, which included the Union minister Nirmala Sitaraman, went to the Election Commission's office to register the complaint.  BJP leaders Shaina NC, M Lekhi, Shazia Ilmi, N Sitharaman & S Upadhyay to meet EC to file complain agnst K Vishwas pic.twitter.com/F8IjTV0NUX— ANI (@ANI_news) January 31, 2015Its very problematic the kind of language AAP is using in public spaces, there are women they are disrespecting: Shazia Ilmi, BJP— ANI (@ANI_news) January 31, 2015Bad choice of words have almost become a TM style of AAP. I am sure EC will act immediately: Shaina NC, BJP pic.twitter.com/Y2aFwudHEf— ANI (@ANI_news) January 31, 2015However, the person against whom the BJP alleged that the "sexist" remark was made, had this to say. A police complaint has been lodged against Kumar Vishwas' sexist comments at a recent rally in the presence of their leadership.— Kiran Bedi (@thekiranbedi) January 31, 2015The point to be noted is that Bedi never said that the "sexist comments" were made against her by Vishwas.Kumar Vishwas responded to the entire issue thus. I have always maintained addressing Kiran Ji as 'Kiran Didi', 'Badi Behen' etc even in recent interviews; all video r on the internet. (1/3)— Dr Kumar Vishvas (@DrKumarVishwas) January 31, 2015Yes, I have tried to question Kiran ji during my Jan-Sabhas, only about problems and view-points on different important issues like... (2/3)— Dr Kumar Vishvas (@DrKumarVishwas) January 31, 2015Political Cleansing, Transparent Funding, Independent CBI, Lokpal etc. All are based on what she endorsed during Lokpal movement (3/3)— Dr Kumar Vishvas (@DrKumarVishwas) January 31, 2015Many on Twitter, including senior journalists commented that the BJP has stretched Vishwas' comment, and it was not targeted at any individual.Just heard Kumar Vishwas's speech.Am no fan of his but he didn't make sexist remarks abt #KiranBedi He was talking about the BJP in general— Seema Goswami (@seemagoswami) January 31, 2015The same #KiranBedi who asked us not to obsess over 'small rapes' is approaching the police for a nonexistent 'sexist' remark. What a joke!— Seema Goswami (@seemagoswami) January 31, 2015You may call Kumar Vishwas remarks silly but to call them sexist is a stretch.
