The News Minute| October 4, 2014| 10.30 am ISTCPIM General Secretary Prakash Karat has called Doordarshan’s decision to live telecast the speech of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Vijayadashami day, as setting a wrong precedent.Writing in Manorama Online, Karat says that DD’s decision is not justified and does not abide by secular principles of the constitution as, “RSS is an organisation that promotes Hindutva and is one that looks to establish a Hindu state in India. It believes that India is the country of Hindus.â€Karat also adds that the issue cannot be swept under the carpet by claiming that DD routinely covers speeches made by national leaders as RSS is ‘not a political party.’He further accuses the BJP of using the national medium to spread the RSS agenda.Karat concluded by saying that secular forces in the nation must not ignore this move as ‘the speech has lent credence to sentiments against minorities, hate campaigns against Muslims and the campaign to deny citizenship to non-Hindus.’Read full text here- Mohan Bhagwat live: A dangerous precedent
