| The News Minute| December 12, 2014| 6.17 pm ISTAs story-lines keep changing and new information comes up every day, the Rohtak sisters’ story has now acquired caste overtones.  According to a report in the HT, several non-Jat groups have come out in support of the sisters, who were hailed as the “Rohtak Bravehearts” on national media. But they now find themselves under the scanner after the reported emergence of several eyewitness statements who refute the two girls’ story.Also Read: An investigation into the Rohtak sisters, is that stretching things too far?The State government of Haryana had earlier, in its capacity, announced a reward of Rs 31,000 for the sisters and promised a felicitation on Republic Day. The awards were later retracted after the emergence of several doubts surrounding the situation. The non-Jat groups — Kabir Samaj, Ravidass Samaj, Sain Samaj, Jangra Samaj, Bairagi Samaj, Panchal Samaj, Kashyap Samaj, Kumhar Samaj, Dhiman Samaj, Teli Samaj and Jogi Samaj have written to the CM, Manohar Lal Khattar. The two girls are from an OBC community from Thana Khurd, Sonepat. They have asked for the “negative publicity” of the girls in the media to stop and the awards re-instated.
