In a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian people, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was seen carrying a bag with the word "Palestine" on it, to Parliament on Monday, December 16. The handbag, adorned with Palestinian emblems, including the symbol of a watermelon, which has become synonymous with Palestinian unity, underlined her continued support for Palestine amid ongoing tensions in Gaza.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has consistently voiced her opposition to Israel's military actions in Gaza. She has publicly condemned the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, calling them "genocidal" and accusing Israel of engaging in "barbarism" in Gaza.

In June, the Congress leader took a strong stance after Netanyahu's speech before the US Congress, where he defended Israel's military operations. Vadra denounced the Israeli government's actions, emphasising the toll on innocent lives in Gaza. She called for global condemnation, stressing that it was the moral responsibility of all right-thinking individuals and governments to intervene and demand an end to the violence.

"This is no longer just a humanitarian issue; it is about the preservation of dignity and humanity," Priyanka Vadra had written on social media. "We cannot stand by as innocent civilians, including mothers, fathers, children, and healthcare workers, are being wiped out day by day in this horrific genocide."

The Congress leader's statement resonates with her ongoing calls for international accountability. She reiterated that the actions of the Israeli government were unacceptable in a world that prides itself on moral values and civility.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's actions and comments come amid growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
