
The News Minute | August 21, 2014 | 5.11 pm ISTA poster by the Porbundar police depicting Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and asking women not to wear “inappropriate clothes†has been put up in many public places in the city.The poster shows Patel with the words “Women’s empowerment†(Mahila Sashaktikaran) captioned in an arch over her image. Below the Chief Minister’s image is the image of a group of girls who appear to be white and some of them have blonde hair. This image is accompanied by the caption “Do not go out wearing inappropriate clothes†appearing above it.According to a report published by The Statesman, the poster was first used by the Porbundar district police during a programme on women’s empowerment last week. Since then, they have been places in many public places across the city. The report quotes the Superintendent of Police R H Hadia as saying that the programme was had been organized by the social welfare department and not the police.
