A family from Jalandhar told the media on the morning of May 10, "We saw a huge red flash, and shortly after, there was a loud blast like a firecracker. We were terrified, and everything went dark. When we stepped outside to check, we saw that our water tank had exploded, and water was gushing out. Even our neighbors’ water tanks were damaged. There was a complete blackout."

Rajouri official killed in shelling

Raj Kumar Thapa, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, was killed on Saturday, May 10, after a shell struck his residence in Rajouri during the night.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, "Devastating news from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administration Services. Just yesterday he was accompanying the Deputy CM around the district & attended the online meeting I chaired. Gurugram bans drones, fireworks, and aerial objects

Donald Trump says India and Pakistan have agreed to full ceasefire

US President Donald Trump has announced a “full and immediate ceasefire” between India and Pakistan after overnight US-mediated talks. Trump shared the statement on Truth Social and reposted it on X. Pakistan’s Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the ceasefire, saying Islamabad remains committed to peace without compromising sovereignty. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also backed the announcement, citing 48 hours of talks with top Indian and Pakistani leaders. India has not yet issued an official response.

Red alert in Amritsar, residents urged to stay indoors

Congress demands PM-led all party meet

Chief of Army Staff permits counteraction to any cease fire violation

Consequent to the ceasefire and airspace violations on night of 10-11 May 2025, Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation with the Army Commanders of the Western Borders.

The COAS has granted full authority to the Army Commanders for counteraction in the kinetic domain to any violation of the understanding reached vide the DGMO talks of 10 May 2025.

First DGMO Briefing on Operation Sindoor

DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai says "You are all by now familiar with the brutality and the dastardly manner in which 26 innocent lives were prematurely terminated at Pahalgam on 22nd April. When you combine those horrific scenes and the pain of the families that the nation witnessed with numerous other recent terrorist strikes on our armed forces and defenceless civilians, we knew that the time had arrived to make yet another compelling statement of our resolve as a nation. Operation Sindoor was conceptualised with a clear military aim to punish the perpetrators and planners of terror and to destroy their terror infrastructure. What I do not state here is the often stated determination of India and its intolerance to terror."

Over 100 terrorists killed in the operation says Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai

DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, in a media briefing on Operation Sindoor, said, "India's precision strikes resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists including high value targets such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudasir Ahmed that were involved in the hijack of IC814 and the Pulwama blast. The line of control was also violated soon after by Pakistan and the erratic and rattled response of our enemy was apparent from the number of civilians, inhabited villages and religious sites such as Gurudwaras that were unfortunately hit by them, leading to a sad loss of lives."

DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said that nine terror targets were deliberately identified and neutralised as part of Operation Sindoor.

He said that the strikes were targeted only at terror infrastructure and not on Pakistani military infrastructure. "Our objective was to target terrorists and terrorist infrastructure and not to target any other infrastructure or the Pakistani military or infrastructure."

Pakistan allowed operation of civilian aircraft while attacking Indian cities with drones near Lahore, Air Marshal Bharti

"On the night of May 8 and May 9, starting as early as 2230 hours, our cities had a mass raid of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, UCAPs starting right from Srinagar, going down right up to Naliya," Air Marshal Bharti said, adding that Pakistan also allowed civilian aircraft and also international passenger aircraft to continue to fly out of Lahore while the drone attacks were also carried out from Lahore.

“My communication with the Pakistani DGMO took place at 15:35 hrs on May 10, during which he proposed a cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by both sides, effective 17:00 hrs the same day,” Lt Gen Ghai said during a media briefing. “We also agreed to speak again on May 12 at 12:00 hrs to discuss modalities for ensuring the longevity of this understanding.”
