The News Minute | September 10, 2014 | 09:01 am IST The Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, was one of the landmark laws passed in India in recent times. The RTI Act enables Indian citizens to ask for information under the control of a public authority. Ever since its inception, the Act has been used by individuals and organisations alike across the country. The Act was passed to bring about transparency and accountability in the working of government authorities. Now there is an online certificate course on RTI for those who'd like to get a better understanding of the RTI Act. The course has been launched by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India (GoI) in association with the Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad. There are two versions of the online course: 7-Day Online Course, which is introductory in nature, and a 15-Day Online Certificate Course, which is extensive and includes practical work as well. A candidate can opt for any of the two versions of the course, or even apply for both.
