The News Minute | December 1, 2014 | 9.58 pm ISTRight from the time it was born, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has effectively used the social media platform. The party has volunteers dedicated for handling its social media space in Twitter and Facebook. It even takes students on internship for its social media work. The party has a Whatsapp account, too, but that is sparsely used. About a month back its chief Arvind Kejriwal joined Whatsapp. His status on it read “Connect with me … shall try to reply as soon as I can” Kejriwal is known to reply to his mails and messages soon. With Whatsapp being such an extensive platform where individuals can connect directly, he would have thought to make use of this space. We tried to contact him here, and the reply we got was interesting. First we were sent a song by Bollywood music composer and AAP supporter Vishal Dadlani. The song has been composed and sung by him exclusively for the coming Delhi election. The Hindi song “Paanch saal Kejriwal” asks people to vote for AAP and give it a majority in the Delhi assembly. Immediately we received a text message from Kejriwal thanking us for connecting with him on Whatsapp. He assured us that all the messages are definitely being read by him. He further said that because of being held up with work, he may not be able to reply always, and he apologized for it. He then told us to ask more people to message him so that he can connect with all of them. He ends saying “Aapka Arvind Kejriwal.”
