Jaitley is bungling black money issue to take revenge on Modi : Ram Jethmalani

In an explosive and stinging letter that Jethmalani has written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the black money issue, he accuses Jaitley of attempting to prevent the truth from coming out. Recently, Jaitley had written a blog on the black money and said, "Any premature and out of court disclosure of the names of account holders would not only vitiate the investigations, but will enable such account holders to get away with their offences. It will also violate India’s double taxation avoidance agreements with other countries and will choke receipt of all further information from those countries."Jethmalani in his letter has put forward some questions to Arun Jaitley. Here are some of the important portions from his letter.Investigation into the black money stashed abroad is under the Supreme Court monitored Special Investigation Team. You should not have taken steps without obtaining permission from the same.The matter does not pertain to people who are liable to pay tax in both Germany and India. Why then have you taken this “most ill advised” step to petition the Supreme Court with Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAT)?DTATs do not provide full information. Names of “crooks like Hassan Ali do not exist” in the list provided under DTAT route. Why do you still rely on them?“I strongly suspect … your conduct.” When you were in opposition the Germans had agreed to share names despite the DTAT. Congress government did not approach them “for the obvious reason” but why did you not do it? Your answers in the Rajya Sabha to the questions on July 8 & 15, 2011 following the ratification of the United Nation Convention Against Corruption which turned out to be a farce “clearly show” that “you are persistent in the fraud.”In the end Jethmalani indicts Jaitley of having no “humility,” “destroying” what Narendra Modi has built, “taking revenge” on the PM and “taking the nation to Suicide.” “You are out to help the biggest criminals to escape,” deplores Jethmalani signing off as an “expelled member of B.J.P.”
